Don’t let cleaning tile floors become overly complicated; keep it simple.

Theresa a real selection of commercial products on the market including mops, and chemical cleaners; it’s a little overwhelming. In fact most of its not necessary and using commercial cleaners can have an adverse effect on your family health and the global ecology.

As you’ll soon find out, there is a way that’s completely environmentally and family safe.

By following the steps below you’ll have your tile floor sparkling like the professionals for much less then what you would pay for a professional.

1. Sweep Up The Debris

Most important step, get all that crud off the floor before a wet moping. I’ve made the mistake once of going right to the mop, and I still have nasty flashback.

Use a Vacuum and get all the crumbs and dust bunnies (because nothing’s more unmanageable than a wet dust-bunny) especially in those hidden corners.

No vacuum? No problem. Use a boom, working from your corners and in. Collect all the grodies into the center making a dust-bunny mosh-pit (of death). Pick it up with your trusty dust pan and garbage away.

2. In The Mix

For the cleaning mixture we’re going to be keeping it economical and eco-friendly with white vinegar. Oh yes, I said vinegar.

Mix in 1 Cup of Vinegar to 1 Gallon of hot steamy water; you got it, that’s it, your mix is complete.

3. Soak

Using a mop, of the “striped cloth” variety or your traditional cotton string mop, apply the mix to the tile floor for a good heavy soaking. Use your discretion; you don’t want to be swimming, but you don’t want it to dry in 5 mins either. It needs to soak for 5 – 10 min.

4. Scrubby Scrubby

While the floor is in a state of soaking, go around and find those stubborn spots and stains and give them a fervent scrub. Work it out, paying particular attention to in-between the tiles as sticky stuff loves to cling to the grout.

5. Rinse 2X

Almost done, go dump your mix; anywhere is fine as our mixture is totally eco-friendly.

Fill your mop pail up with some clean fresh cold water. Dip the mop, give it a good tight ring and soak up the water off the floor.

Now that the floor is simply damp, go refresh your mop pail with new water. This time dip and ring out the mop half way and give the floor a good water polish. Good, now let the floor dry to sheen.

That’s it, you’re finished!

Have a look at your brand new sparkling floor; WOW! And to think you did it for less money, less pollution, and it was completely safe for you and your family; Impressive!
