High Pressure Laminate (HPL)
With this type you will find that the planks are usually fused together in a simple one or two layer process. The way to install this type of material is that you take several layers and you glue them together and then these layers are combined with the remaining materials and then glued and affixed onto a plank. This gives you a much harder finish, and a much stronger and more durable plank than other types.
Direct Pressure Laminate (DPL)
In this type the planks are fused together in an easy one step process. This is much cheaper to make and much easier to use. However it is not as strong and hard as the HPL type of material. Shaw laminate flooring offer this type of laminated floors.
Thickness
When you start shopping for the types of materials you can buy you will see that the different choices come in various thicknesses. They range from 7-8 mm to 12 mm thick. The thicker ones will cost you a little more but they will also be stronger and more durable. It’s a choice you will need to make before you pick out the right laminated floor for your home.
