The floors you choose for your home have a significant impact upon the ambient, but also upon your lifestyle. The ideal flooring should compliment aesthetically the interior and, in essence, your home life. They should be durable, easy to clean, hygienic, and require minimal maintenance. Tile floors fit this profile completely, but their advantages do not end here. Below are the pros, which convinced me that tile floors are indeed the best.
In terms of durability and resistance to daily wear and tear, natural stone tiles are second to none. This makes them perfect floor covers for high traffic family common spaces like the kitchen, living room, hallway or bathroom, but also for physical work spaces (like a garages, home workshops or ateliers, gyms, etc) or for outdoor areas (such as patios, front door stairs, garden walkways). Moreover, if scratches do occur in time, these tiles can be refurbished for a brand new look.
Regarding the cleaning and maintenance, no other floor material requires less attention, time, and costs in medium to long term. Periodical sealing (every couple of years) should be all-necessary to keep your tiles looking good for a lifetime. In normal living conditions, natural stone tiles are wiped clean in a gesture, yet if hard cleaning substance spills do happen, there is no need to worry because any tile floor surfactant should do the job (but make sure this is not abrasive). Noteworthy is also the fact that stone tiles provide hygienic surfaces and some stone materials (like marble and granite) prevent the formation of bacteria. All stone tiles do not retain dust and microorganisms, do not promote bad odors and are largely stain resistant.
Stone tiles floors are waterproof. Water (whether from cleaning, due to the environment or accidents) is one of the biggest enemies of floors. The wet carpeting in enclosed spaces turns the air unbearable and causes mildew. Even hardwood buckles under in humid environments (it swells, curves, comes off and rots). Yet, natural stone tiles have an absorption rate below 5%, which makes them not only waterproof but also resistant to freeze and thaw. This is to say they are the floors of choice for bathrooms, laundry areas, kitchens, basements, etc. On the other hand, natural stone tiles are also fireproof, thus adding an extra caution of safety in your home.
From the aesthetical point of view, natural stone tiles charm everybody. Whether marble, granite, limestone, or travertine, these tiles look exquisite in any settings from traditional to contemporary. Moreover, you can find a wide range of colors, textures, and finishes to suit your space and individual tastes. Yet, if you ask me, for a homelike warm and cozy interior with stylish touches of luxury and uniqueness, the beige and honey hues of classic cappuccino marble tiles are absolutely beyond compare.
