Self adhesive vinyl floor tile is about the quickest, cheapest and easiest way for the average person to have a new, beautiful floor in a matter of hours. That’s right….hours.
This IS if the surface you’re laying on is clean, smooth and dry. The adhesive on the back of self-adhesive vinyl flooring is sufficient to hold the tile in place without help from any additional adhesive- just as long as the surface it’s being installed upon is clean, smooth and dry.
This brings up one very frequently asked question: Is extra adhesive recommended? The answer to that is DEFINITELY NO! The manufacturer of the tile is experienced enough to know how to apply the right kind of adhesive to the product in order to make it stick for AT LEAST the duration of the warranty. Additionally, it’s important to understand that not all adhesives are compatible. That means the chemical properties vary from one adhesive to the next and will very likely not blend. This will render BOTH adhesives useless and will void the tile’s warranty! So don’t do it. Instead, spend the extra time and money preparing the surface….CLEAN, SMOOTH AND DRY!!!
Cracks, nail holes, dirt, and grease must be eliminated for best adhesion and a long-lasting tile floor installation.
Another frequently-asked question: will the tile work on my cemtent basement or garage floor?
