Many people think that having a tile floor installed is huge task and only a professional can install a tile floor. However, this is just not true. It is easier than you think to install. In fact, there are vinyl tile floors you can do yourself.
All you have to do to install a vinyl tile floor is have the determination to do it. You will need some things to put the tile down on the floor. So when you go to pick out your floor tile you can pick up the glue or adhesive, and either a large stiff paintbrush or a large putty knife.
The adhesive comes in gallon size buckets like paint buckets it could take several to do a large area of floor or an entire floor. The paintbrush is to paint the adhesive onto the floor in a thin coat. On the other hand, you can use the putty knife if you want to.
The floor tile comes in two kinds; just the plain tiles and the kind with an adhesive on the back and you just peel the paper then gently lay the tile on the floor in place. However this does not stay down good without the adhesive.
First, you will need to prepare the room you wish to put the tile down in. By clearing out the old floor covering then once you have done that you will need to clean the floors thoroughly with floor cleaner and make sure the floors are in good shape.
Once the entire floor is clean and free of dust then you can begin to place the tile on the floor. Simple pick out the corner the farthest from the exit. Keep your tile and the adhesive close and work a small area at a time. Paint the adhesive on the floor wide enough for one or two rows of the tile. Then carefully place the tile end to end one after the other until the adhesive area is covered.
Simply repeat this process until the entire floor is, covered always works you way to the door. You might need an old towel or rag to remove any adhesive that gets on the top of the floor tile. Let the floor dry completely a couple of days before walking on the new tile to make sure the tile is set down good.
You want the windows, the doors to be, opened, and plenty of air to circulate through the room. This is because the adhesive has strong odorous fumes and may be to strong for a person.
